CANTEEN

The Lathlain Lunchbox Canteen is run by the P&C and is open on Tuesdays and Fridays during the school term. Lunch orders are available for students from PP to year 6. Recess orders are available for Yrs 1 – 6. Kindy lunch orders will be available from term 2 2025.

Canteen Menu:

In Western Australia, all public schools are required to follow the Department of Education’s Student Health in Public Schools Policy, including Healthy Food and Drink in Public Schools (HFD) Policy and reflect the Australian Dietary Guidelines and Australian Guide to Healthy Eating.

Lathlain school canteen menu abides by these policies which includes reference to The WA School Food and Drink Criteria (WASFDC). This document classifies food and drink according to a traffic light system: GREEN (healthiest), AMBER, or RED (least healthy).

This policy requires that all school canteen menus have the following breakdown of food items:

  • ‘green’ items – account for a minimum of 60% of the menu
  • ‘amber’ items – account for a maximum of 40% of the menu, including minimal ‘red’ items.

Placing an order:

Lathlain Canteen accepts online orders only.

Orders must be made online at http://www.QuickCliq.com.au by 8.30am on Tuesday & Fridays.

Please note, the canteen is not open for cash orders before school.

Cancelling an order:

If your child has gone home sick or you need to cancel an order, please contact the school office on 9224 9800 who will put you through to the canteen. If cancelled early in the day, most orders can be rescheduled for another day.

After lunch snacks:

The canteen is open at lunchtime for students in years 1- 6 to purchase snacks.

Snack items can be purchased with cash only. These items also abide by the healthy school policy referenced above. The items for sale during lunchtime range from 50c to $3 and can vary day to day. Please try to send correct change or small denominations. The canteen staff can not be responsible for misplaced change given to students.

Volunteering:

The P&C relies on parent volunteers to help our canteen staff provide lunches to the students of Lathlain. Volunteering in the canteen is a great way to see what is offered in the canteen and meet other parents. Our canteen is welcoming and grateful to anyone who can spare a few hours to help out. You don’t need any experience to help in the canteen.

Birthday Buckets are available for PP – Yr 6 and are a fun way for your child to celebrate their birthday at school. A Birthday Bucket is filled with enough frozen Quelch Fruit icy poles for your child’s whole class and delivered to your child’s class during the day.

Birthday buckets can be ordered to be delivered to your child’s classroom on Tuesdays and Fridays. Book your birthday bucket for delivery by ordering on Quickcliq.com.au before 8.30am on the date of the delivery.

Contacting the canteen:

Mistakes & missing lunch items:

Occasionally lunches arrive to students missing an item like a tomato sauce or drink. Please have your child talk to their teacher first and then attend the canteen where a staff member will be able to help them.
