Swimming Carnival 2025 Years 4 – 6

Our Year 4-6 Swimming Carnival will take place on Friday, 28th February (Week 4) at Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre. Students will depart school by bus at 9:00 AM, with events starting at 9:30 AM.

This year, Lathlain Primary will be participating in the VPASSA Interschool Swimming Carnival. As a result, some events have been slightly modified to mirror the eligibility requirements of the Interschool Carnival.

Participation & Eligibility

• All students are encouraged to participate.
• Only students at Stage 7 or above can compete in the 25m freestyle.
• Only students at Stage 8 or above can compete in the 50m freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke.
• Only students at Stage 9 or above can compete in the 100m open freestyle (all year levels).
• All students can join team games.

If your child did not attend Term 2 swimming lessons or complete Vacation Swimming and has achieved Stage 6 or higher, please provide a copy of their certificate to confirm eligibility.

Supervision:
Classroom teachers and pool staff will supervise the event.

What to Bring
Wear bathers under school uniform
Label all clothing to prevent loss
Bring:

• Hat, bathers, towel, sunscreen, warm clothes
• Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, drinks (no glass)

Event Schedule
Races: 100m Open Freestyle, 50m Freestyle, 25m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke.
Team Games: Boogie Board Relay, Rescue Relay, Gym Ball Relay, T-Shirt Change Relay, Running Relay.

Transport & Pick-Up
Students will return to school by 2:55 PM. Parents may collect their child at the carnival’s conclusion—please sign them out with the class teacher.

Parent Helpers Needed!
We need 5-10 volunteers for timekeeping, set-up, and pack-up. If available, please email casey.vandersluys@education.wa.edu.au.

Cost:
The excursion cost is $12. Please complete the permission form below & make payment by Friday 21 February.

Student Health Considerations(Required)

I agree to inform the organisers well before the scheduled excursion of any change to my child’s health and fitness so that appropriate supervision may be arranged. I acknowledge that, should it be considered necessary, school staff will arrange to present my child for medical assessment and treatment.

The medical and health information currently held by the school is correct and up to date.I must complete a new Student Health Form as the information held by the school has changed (please see office staff for a copy of the form).

I am aware that the school and its employees are not responsible for personal injuries or property damage that may occur during an excursion, unless the school or its employees are proven to be negligent. I am aware this bus is equipped with seatbelts.

Water Based or Swimming Activities Consent(Required)

Additional consent for participation in water based or swimming activities is required by the Department of Education. This excursion will involve the following water based or swimming activities: - Supervised novelty games and individual swimming events (for children who have passed Stage 6) These activities will take place at: - Belmont Oasis outdoor pool (25m long, approx. 1m depth) I give permission for my child to participate in the water based or swimming activities.
