Kindy to Year 2 Transition

Dear Parents/Guardians,
To support the Kindy students moving to the ‘big’ school in 2025, Lathlain Primary has organised
for the students to spend a morning at the Howick Street site, so they become familiar with the
school. This visit will allow the students to have a play in the Pre-Primary play area, visit a
classroom and complete an activity with the Pre-Primary staff.
To ensure the students are supported and comfortable, the kindy staff will accompany the
children for the morning.
The morning procedure will be as follows:
Time Procedure
8:50am • Howick Street – Parents drop off students to the main site and
hand them to their class teachers in the school library.
9:10am • Kindy staff (Teachers & Education Assistants) take children to the
Pre-Primary playground and allow them 20 minutes of play.
• Monday – Mrs Purdy, Mrs Rose, Mrs Fox, Mrs Perera, Miss Smith &
Miss Park
• Wednesday – Mrs Rourke, Mrs De Klerk, Miss Smith & Miss Park
9:50am –
10:30am
• Pre-Primary classrooms (Kindy staff to stay and support)
10:30am –
10:50am
• Recess – snack (Back PP verandah)
• Toilet break using PP toilets
10:50am • Bus back to Kindy on Planet Street (Bus booked)
11:00am –
12:40pm
• Kindy students to have structured play, free play and lunch
12:40pm –
3:10pm
• Normal Kindy program
3:10pm • Parents pick up students from Planet Street
The children will need to be dropped off by their parents at the Howick Street library to their
classroom teachers and after the morning, the students will be bused back to Planet Street. These
are the dates Monday 25 November (K1, K3 & K5) and Wednesday 27 November (K2 & K5).
There will be no cost to this incursion as it will be covered by the school.
