DATE CHANGED Athletics Carnival

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Due to bad weather the ATHLETICS CARNIVAL date has been changed to FRIDAY 3 SEPTEMBER.
Week 6 & 7 will be the Lathlain Primary Athletics Weeks, with events happening on different days.
On Wednesday the 25th August, Year 3-6 students will be competing in their Athletic Runs at Lathlain Park for the running trials for the 400m, 200m, 100m & 75m events. Students from Year 3-6 will walk to and from Lathlain Park with their teachers and EA’s. The top two students from each year group faction will compete in the 200 & 400m events. Every student will have the opportunity to compete in the sprints as there will be set divisions for each year group. Parents are allowed to spectate but are asked to be mindful of social distancing. Details of the running schedule will be updated at the end of week 5 on the Seesaw application.
Monday 30th August: Year 3-6 Jumps and throws will be held at the school with selected students only, the events will run between (9:00am-1:00pm) approximately.
Thursday 2nd September: School Faction Carnival which will be held at the school.
Once again, the team games will be in a tabloid style, meaning that students from each year level will be participating in games simultaneously, rotating through until they have done all of the games. They will then move to the Faction bays for their running events. All junior student will then return to class for lunch and the afternoon.
The senior students will come out after an early lunch. They will also participate in the team games in a tabloid style. Students will then move to the Faction bays for their running events and relays. We hope that this system will allow students a chance for greater engagement as they will have less time sitting in the Faction bays. Below is a guide to outline the day (times are still to be confirmed).

In case of severe weather, events may need to be postponed. Information will be sent home with students and disseminated through Seesaw.
Parents are welcome to attend the carnival to support students. The P&C will be running a sausage sizzle and a coffee van will be on site on the day.
