Edu Dance commences
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Re: Edu-Dance Lessons Term 3, 2026
Our students have an opportunity to engage in an energetic dance program during Term 3. The Edu-Dance program the The Arts: Dance requirements of the WA Curriculum for students.
Over the term, the students will participate in weekly 30 minutes Edu-Dance sessions run by fully qualified Edu-Dance instructors. Lessons will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout Term 3.
The total cost to students this year is $40. This will cover all sessions.
**If your child had a previous credit, this has been applied to lower the cost. Please pay the amount indicated**
Please provide permission and payment by Friday July 4.
Below are the key components of the curriculum in which students will engage during Edu-Dance:
Exploration of, and experimentation with, elements of dance to create dance sequences, utilising:
Body:
body awareness (awareness of body in space in relation to objects)
body zones (whole body movements)
body bases (feet)
Space:
levels (low, medium, high)
direction (forward, backward, angular)
personal space
shape (straight, curved)
Locomotor (walking, skipping, running) and non-locomotor movements (twisting, bending, turning, swaying) to develop body control and coordination
Use of stimuli to explore movement ideas to create simple dance sequences
Safe dance practices, including being aware of personal space
Performance skills (facing the audience) when presenting dance
